Drivers must buy a temporary St. Lucian driving permit, which costs roughly US$20 to US$25 depending on the rental agency (which can be found at both airports). It lasts for 3 months, and you cannot legally drive in St. Lucia without it, even with a valid license from home or an international permit. You must be at least 25 years old to rent a car from most companies.

Car Rental Companies

Public minibuses are a very affordable way to travel locally, with fares often ranging from US$1 to US$5. To identify them, look for a green number plate with an M prefix. You can flag them down along the main road, or use this helpful guide for bus stop locations.

Taxis have light blue license plates starting with the letters TX. Make sure to always confirm the fare before starting your journey.

Approximate taxi costs from our resort are US$20 one way to Soufrière’s town center, US$15 to Sulphur Springs, US$25 to Diamond Botanical Gardens, and US$10 to the Tet Paul Nature Trail.
