What is there to see nearby?
Soufrière puts you within easy reach of Sulphur Springs, the world’s only drive in volcano, Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens, ziplining at Morne Coubaril, the En Bas Saut Rainforest Trail, horseback riding, snorkeling along the coast, the Anse La Raye Fish Fry, and sunset cruises past the Pitons.
Can we learn to cook St. Lucian food?
Our hands on cooking class takes you into an authentic island kitchen to prepare traditional dishes with fresh local ingredients. You leave with the recipes and the skills to make them again at home.
Can we plant a tree while we are here?
Yes, and it is complimentary. Our Tree Planting program invites guests to plant a young tree anywhere in the resort gardens. We label it with your name, so it stays as a living reminder of your visit.
Is Fond Doux good for birdwatching?
St. Lucia has 177 recorded bird species and many can be seen on the estate. Guests spot the Hen Harrier, Black Hawk, American Kestrel, Green Heron, Mangrove Cuckoo and the St. Lucia Pewee, along with pigeons, doves, and parrots. You are free to wander the grounds and look.
What are the nature trails on the estate like?
Three trails wind through the resort and you can walk them at your own pace. They pass tropical flora, local wildlife, and views over the surrounding rainforest. Along the way, you meet historic ruins and landmarks that carry the stories and folklore of this centuries-old plantation.
Is there an easier hike than Gros Piton?
The Tet Paul Nature Trail is rated easy to moderate and suits most walkers. It climbs like a natural staircase past exotic fruit trees and medicinal plants, and the summit looks out over the twin Pitons and across to Martinique and St. Vincent.
Can we hike the Pitons from Fond Doux?
Yes. The Gros Piton Nature Trail takes about two to two and a half hours to ascend and rewards you with panoramic views of the island, the Caribbean Sea, and the Pitons. Our team can arrange the booking in advance.
What is there to do without leaving the resort?
Plenty. The estate has three scenic nature trails, a chocolate making tour, a cooking class, a mixology class, birdwatching across the grounds, a fitness center, and both the cascading pools and the infinity pool. Most of it is a short walk from your cottage.
