Over the years, we’ve built a steady record of Leading Green Resort awards, and this year, we’re in the running once more. This post looks back at that track record and shows how you can support Fond Doux Eco Resort in the current vote. It’s also a chance to explain what these titles stand for, because a green award is only as good as the practice behind it.
A Track Record of Green Resort Awards
At the World Travel Awards, we’ve been recognized as a Leading Green Resort for four consecutive years. We received the Caribbean’s Leading Green Resort award in 2022, 2023, and 2024, as well as Saint Lucia’s Leading Green Resort title in 2024 and 2025.
These awards are decided by votes from travel professionals and the public, so each one reflects genuine support from people who know the property and the island. Recognition that returns year after year says something a single win cannot, that the estate has kept its standards steady while the industry around it has changed.
What the Green Categories Actually Reward
Green resort awards are not about a single feature. They look at how a property treats its land, its energy, and its community over time. At Fond Doux, that means solar power and rainwater harvesting, certified organic gardens that supply the kitchen, a Tree Planting program guests can join, and a long commitment to hiring and training Saint Lucians.
The estate also holds Green Globe certification, one of the sector’s established sustainability standards. None of these are grand or photogenic on their own. Their value is in repetition, day after day, season after season, which is exactly what the green categories are built to reward.
The 2026 Nominations are Open
For 2026, Fond Doux is again put forward in the region’s leading green resort categories, and this is where guests and friends of the estate can help. Public votes count towards the result, so a moment of your time can carry real weight for a small, locally owned property competing beside much larger names.
How to Add Your Vote
Voting takes place on the World Travel Awards website, where you can search for Fond Doux Eco Resort and cast your vote in the following categories: Caribbean’s Leading Green Resort 2026 or Saint Lucia’s Leading Green Resort 2026.
If the estate has been part of a memorable trip, or if you simply believe in Saint Lucian owned tourism that looks after its land, your vote is a straightforward way to say so. It helps keep a small Saint Lucian property in a conversation usually dominated by big international names. Voting closes August 28, 2026.
Plan a Stay and See it in Person
Awards aside, the estate is at its best when you are experiencing it, under our sustainably grown cacao and banana trees. Plan a stay at Fond Doux Eco Resort, and whether or not the votes fall our way this year, you’ll understand what the green resort awards have been pointing to all along.
