What was the Battle of Rabot?
On 22 April 1795 this landscape was the site of a defining clash in St. Lucia’s struggle against slavery. Over 1,000 British troops, Black and white, marched from Vieux Fort to crush the rebellion.
What is the Fond Doux Historical Park?
It preserves the legacy of the Battle of Rabot on the ground where the ambush took place. You can walk the ruins of an eighteenth century French fortress and a Neg Maron hideout, alongside other reminders of the island’s struggle for freedom.
Are the cottages original buildings?
Rather than build replicas, Fond Doux salvages abandoned colonial buildings from across St. Lucia and restores them here. Each cottage is furnished with pieces made by local artisans.
Can you provide a cot or an extra bed?

The cottages open onto balconies with garden views, and are surrounded by citrus, tropical fruit and cocoa trees.

The one bedroom cottages are built for couples wanting romance and quiet, with an intimate layout and a direct connection to the rainforest around them. If you want a private plunge pool and air conditioning as well, choose the One Bedroom Cottage with Pool and A/C.
